The N.C brand clothing and household linen I am bringing out satisfies two specifications. No Creation is a conscious effort to reject the creative approach. I want to summon up a prototype of a garment or piece of household linen with time-honoured qualities, a prototype already familiar to the collective memory, immune to the vagaries of fashion. No Chemical means that I am producing these goods using natural materials which have not undergone any chemical treatments or processing. The respect we owe the environment is above all respect we owe ourselves as human beings. Our line of N.C cotton garments made in Peru labeled Stop Cocaine Go Organic responds to moral need as well. The growth of organic cotton is been and encouraged by the Peruvian government as an incentive to farmers to quit growing coca (from which cocaine is made) as a cash crop. Currently, the inorganic cotton crop is responsible for 20% of the total pesticides used in agriculture. These chemicals are harmful to human health both in the field and later, when the inorganically grown cotton is in contact with the skin. The Skal (Eko label) attests to the exclusively organic quality of the cotton we use, which is grown and processed without the addition of chemicals. Skal is an international inspection agency recognized by the European Union, and its standards for ecological purity are the most demanding. The same is true for a pure alpaca wool or alpaca-wool blend garments: the quality of the yarns and natural hues (pure alpaca wool in a natural state is available in a wide variety of tints) enables us to offer clothing that is just as good as, if not better than, similar products which have been processed with chemical pollutants. For technical reasons certain N.C garments have not yet been awarded the Eko label from Skal. Neverthless, they have been made respecting strict ecological standards.
